Africa Festival at the Stoa in Edling – Saturday, 07/15/2023

On Saturday, July 15, 2023, our association’s first Africa Festival took place at the Stoa in Edling. Despite the hot temperatures, we were able to welcome many guests.

Noah Hansen and his helpers provided culinary delights with delicious dishes from Kenya—chapatis, sukuma wiki, and ugali were, of course, a must. Anyone who still had room could eat their fill from the wide selection of cakes—a big thank you at this point to the hardworking bakers; the cakes were simply delicious!

The children’s program was in high demand despite the heat—from a scavenger hunt to face painting, the kids had a lot of fun and were serenaded with African songs by the Edling children’s choir. The festival was also accompanied by other musicians. The drumming group really got us into the spirit with their rhythms, and Paul Kowol’s guitar music and singing moved us deeply.

We rounded off the evening with a short video about the Maisha Mazuri Children Centre and an African film as a highlight—all in the middle of this great location at the Stoa.

Many thanks to everyone who spent this day with us, to the hardworking volunteers, and for the donations we were able to collect for the MCC!

Asante sana
